I just hauled out a bassoon that I purchased years ago, and discovered that it isn't quite a normal bassoon! It's a Linton 2K model, and it doesn't have the same keys on the boot joint that Heckel bassoons do. I have the standard Heckel fingering charts, but I'm at a total loss finding a chart that would work with mine. Can anyone suggest a resource?

That's odd - I believe Linton only ever made German system bassoons. It's not just that one of the g# or f# keys is not on this model?

I should have sais the only other syatem is the French one but the keywork on all 3 joints is different to the heckel type.

The 2k model was a very basic Heckel system bassoon with no whisper key and high C (2 keys only for the left thumb)on the wing joint or right thumb Ab key on the boot. Possibly minus the odd other key as well. It also had that horrible press stud joint lock.

Thanks for that info - I have seen many 5k bassoons but never the 2k.

Yes I'd heard that recently. linton bassoons must have introduced hundreds of people to bassoon playing at a low price over the years. For that he deserves respect. Unfortunately they were never that good.
