Fox's intonation guarantee for their long-bore bassoons mentions "a properly tuned reed". For a while Legere has been selling a (very expensive) synthetic reed that supposedly needs no adjustment. Any opinions on these matters, singly or in combination? (I am thinking of a strictly amateur player in, say, a secondary school or a community band, who would like a "plug and play" environment, so to speak.) Thanks.

Perhaps my original post sounded too flippant. Sorry.
Seriously, I have heard very good and very bad things about Legere's synthetic reed for the bassoon, and am wondering about its suitability for the strictly amateur player.
