Hi all,
Last year I found myself playing in Nottingham Youth Orchestra (England) on bassoon due to lack of players (please bear in mind I am an 18 yr old clarinettist, second study Tenor sax - and ended up playing bassoon as a "new challenge" haha.) anyway. Last week I was handed the 1st bassoon part to Carmina Burana and began to panic when I looked at the Solo. I have just been doing some research and the audition list for many pro orchestras have this solo on it. I`ve played the second bsn part to Stravinsky`s Firebird Suite, but hate playing first (as you are likely to gain several solos) but after much discussion thats where I ended up! the solo is very much in treble clef range and I wondered if anyone out there has any advice? (email is better, as i am more likely to recieve it).
thanks
