Your weak, well tough, I mean if its heavy then I guess you would have to put up with it. And another thing, workout and do weight lifting because you sould be at least 20 to 30 pounds heavier in muscle at you size. And another thing, people might say that you will always be very small because of genetics and also the fact that people say that musicians shoudn`t do weight lifting because its bad for your playing, if people say that then tell them to go jump. So what I am trying to say is play whatever extremely heavy instrument you want. The Bassoon isn`t a very heavy instrument for you or anybody. Nah a pretty heavy instrument would be the Tuba but even you could play that.

Read this web site it is very important for you to know, oh and 3.5 kilos is 7.7 pounds which is the weight of the Bassoon.

you should be fine. I play the bassoon and I weigh about 95lb. It is not that heavy. I can lift it and carry it with one hand.

The bassoon isn`t heavy! The tuba is where you need the big band pipes... this one time at band camp, my friend bumped into me and I dropped my tuba... it was nuts.

no one`s going to read this, i just like to brag, but to that person who said bassoonists are weak or whatever, i play bassoon, but I play marching baritone in marching band... the HARDEST and HEAVIEST wind instrument to carry (only beaten in weight by the sousaphone, which is supported by your shoulder-back... with baritone you only have your arms). Bassoonists rock the world. Hey everyone, check out the Bassoon Brothers. They`re awesome.

Ok, here`s the deal, the bassoon ways less than most instruments it`s size. It can be a little intimidating, but my t-sax probobly ways more than it. The only time you even have to worry about the weight is when your carrying it, because it has a strap that you sit on to support it. I wouls suggest you just go find one, and pick it up already.

im not sure if its too heavy or anything, but my band teacher needed a bassoon and i asked her if i could play it, but she said my hands were too small,so if ur strong enough, ur hand size might be a problem also. im not sure though.
