I'm a intermediate trumpeter and I am looking to change to a High Pitch mouthpiece, but I am not sure what size is exactly considered a high pitch mouthpiece. Could I please have some suggestions.

You don't need a high pitch mouthpiece, you just need to practice every day and get a good teacher to build range.

A simple change of a mouthpiece will not make you play higher, it will only make the highest notes you can play easier.

I agree with Jackie09 that a mouthpiece change will not solve all of your problems and make you play super high. But I do believe that there are perfect mouthpieces for everyone. Go to your local music store, sit down, and try them all out. See what feels best and maybe see if you can try one for a few days free of charge. If you like it, then make a commitment and stick with it. It's all about what you feel comfortable with...and yes, some mouthpieces can make high notes easier to play...but beware the sacrifices you will have to make for those high notes. Good luck

i currently use two mouthpieces, a bach megatone and a schilke. the schilke is a lead mouthpiece (cant remember what type) and plays with a good lightness that i need for some of my repertoire and the bach megatone (5c) plays very well for tone and darker sounds, however i can still reach the same notes on the bach that i can on my schilke even though the schilke is a lead mouthpiece.

Practice, practice, practiv=ce - and then, practice some more. I have played with a Schilke 20B for over 30 years, and I still play above double-C consistently. It isn't the mouthpiece, its the chops using the mouthpiece. There are no shortcuts for practice time.

well its definatley about practiving and getthing the air pockets right so you can hit them when you want...but after that...my guess is that you have a 7C...i would go down to a 5C or maybe a 3C

Thanks, actaully I do practice, like 2 hours a day. And yes I do have a 7C. My first year of trumpet playing I used a 3C, but eventually changed to 7C.
