Hello, I'm looking for a trumpet to get for my nephew who wants to start playing. He has his eye on a Cecilio (I think I spelled it right)...as a starter, his this a good brand to get for him or are there better ones for a beginner?

I have personally never heard of this brand. I know that a great starting trumpet is the Bach TR-300. Good luck.

i'm not sure what i had but it was a bach just make sure you ask for bach student trumpet and explain to your son how the valves won't fail no that trumpet. if i'm not mistakened i believe all bachs have a warrenty with there valves.

It is a horrible trumpet!!! I bought one so I know! KK Music Store an (Ebay Power Seller) sold me a Cecilio Pocket Trumpet and told me before it was sent they had a defective shipment and could I wait.

I said yes but make sure my trumpet has no defects! Then they sent me a defective model. I sent emails back to them with clear instructions & phone calls of what not to send me under any circumstances they agreed I returned it then they sent me another defective model. Said they would refund my money but I'd have to pay shipping & handling costs: $30 plus approx $15 of my own money to ship it back. So in other words I pay $45 to look at their misrepresented Junk not to mention all the hassle!

Company is selling Cecilio Trumpets which have outside lacquer inside valve chambers to unsuspecting students who don't know any better. They say the reason the outside lacquer is inside the valve chambers is for looks which is absurd.
Ebay now knows this is happening & does nothing they claim they are a neutral 3rd party. Do a web search for: "How to buy a pocket trumpet or any trumpet".

The Bach is great, so is the Conn Director for a student, Selmer, and Yamaha make good student horns. If you pick one of those you are doing ok. Getting a used one of those is far better than getting a new no brand like the Cecilio.

If you get a Bach stay away form the Aristocrat, or anything that is not a tr300. Get a tr300.
