I started learning how to play the trumpet about a year ago at school and i joined the school jazz band and orchestra. However I had to borrow the trumpet from school. Now that I`m about to leave the school I want to buy my own trumpet so I can keep playing. My dad asked around and found 5 trumpets in my price range. I would like to know which of these would be the best to play on.
Here are the trumpets available:
LAZER trumpet gold
LAZER trumpet H12T-5Y
King GP 600
Yamaha YTR 2335
V. Bach 1530SP
I would like to have the trumpet I could use the longest until I can`t improve anymore with that trumpet.
thanks,
René

I personally would reccomend the Yamaha. It is the best student horn around, and it should hold you for a while. If not the Yamaha, the King 600 isn`t too bad either. I would stay away from the Bachs and the Lazers though.

Rene`,
If your choices are strictly limited to those you listed, I would echo the recommendation on the Yamaha. If there`s any possibility of looking beyond those choices I would recommend going to www.giardinelli.com or www.wwbw.com and check out the Blessing ML-1 line of trumpets. Both dealers currently offer them for the same prices ranging from $629.99 for the brass/lacquer ML-1 to $769.99 for the ML-1G (sliver plated with gold trim). The Blessing ML-1S (silver) very closely compares to the Bach 180S-37 that those same dealers currently offer for $1799.99. The ML-1`s are all professional grade horns that will not inhibit progress to the advanced level due to lack of resonse and/or playability. Blessing has been making quality band instruments in the U.S. since 1906. I also believe that both dealers offer purchase via mail as well as online. Best of luck to you.

Also forgot to mention that Giardinelli and wwbw (Woodwinds and Brasswinds) also offer payment plans with payments somewhat less than what most band instrument stores charge to rent trumpets. Likewise with Brook Mays (www.bmmg.com), in case you want to look around there also.

Thanks Ray, good point. Blessing has been producing some fine instruments recently. They are modeled after some of the best horns in history, and are often as good or better than those horns. Even if a new Blessing is out of the question, finding a used one might be possible, like on eBay. Good luck.

Hey Ray and Bobert thanks a lot for your advice. My options are pretty limited to what I put down. I live in Indonesia right now and I don`t know if I could get ebay to deliver all the way here without charging about as much as the trumpet. Thanks again for the advice!

It really boils down to what you can afford and what you can`t. Then when you settle on an amount then what kind of work do you need the trumpet for. Then research it and ask questions.
I played a Benge 7x for years and just switched to a Cannonball 725. But I played a myriad of horns before I chose this horn. I needed something easy blowing in all registers and ease in the upper register with intonation not being a problem. I tried every Pro horn I could get my hands on. The key is no matter what people say: you try the horn and then make a decision. Make sure you try before you buy.

Hi, I have an LA Benge with super valves. They were aligned by Bob Reeves in CA.. Not only are they fast, they are completely noiseless. I sit next to a couple of guys with Bach Strads, and they sound like a can full of marbles. Really. However the Benge cuts through all of these Bachs, and I get those are you out of tune looks. So i am thinking of selling it and buying a Lawler of Wild Thing

it all really depends on personal opinion. It is whatever plays the easiest for you. Bach plays easy for me, but like i said, bach may not be your thing.
