PLAY SAX.... seriously, i started on piano, i`ve played percussion, and guitar and my bro plays violin and my bf plays flute and my best friend plays trumpet and i`m running outta instruments here..... but basically, I play tenor sax, and it is the most awesome instrument!! Its fairly easy to learn... like to learn the notes and stuff... and you do get some good music. If you`re playing in school band then learn the alto, becuase the tenors and baritones just get the low boring parts most of the time.... the altos get melodies which are way more fun. ANd the alto is smaller so its easier.

As for oboes.... they sound great if you can master them, but let me tell you the most painful sound in the world is that of a beginner oboe player... they are very very tricky to master...

Hope that helps!!

PLAY SAX!!!!!!!!

I agree, oboes r terrible if u haven`t mastered them. Sounds like a strangled cat. But, depending on what sort of band it is, play a string instruement (They sound awesome! Besides, a violin is always the concert master)

But if its a concert band or somthing, go with a clarinet or something like that, cause they sound great even if u aren`t dat good

You should choose an instrument that fits you and one that will make you happy.
I wanted to play violin when I was 8, but everyone told play Clarinet so I did. But it didn`t fit me so now I`m 14 and I just started playing violin. My violin and me have a great connection its like I create something new when I play it. So choose and instrument that makes you feel great. You`ll probably try a few before you find the dream instrument though

For me the best instr. is the sax. I`ve played almost every instrument found in band and I like it the best. Chances are you have an idea, a thought, something that jumps out at you. Go with your heart and your mind. Don`t get stuck with an instrument that you don`t want or like.

I have always been in love with piano... Brilliant instrument. I experience intense pleasure every time I play it... Plus, since your mouth won`t be occupied you can sing and play at the same time (big bonus, believe me).
Saxophones are wonderful as well... There`s something very appealing about them.
