Sure it will. You ever seen Anchorman? =D

In all seriousness, it already is a jazz instrument. At a local (University of alabama - I happen to be fortunate enough to live in the city with the university here) had a jazz deal, and they had a flute. It was pretty cool.

I believe that flutes can be in jazz band, but it'll be a lifelong battle to get the world of music to agree.

Flutes have been used in jazz since the 1920's, however, very little until the 50s. You don't hear them much because they drown in the brass and percussion.

The flute has a great jazz sound and there numerous jazz flutists out there

well my town jaz band has three flute players and they are perfect for jazz.
you will no know how amazing the flute is until you have heard one play blue bossa.
plus Jethrotul, Ian Anderson was a flute player in a rock band that is one of the best ever. If you have never heard of Ian Anderson i strongly suggest you look him up =D

I've always wanted to hear more jazz flute. Heard some a while back and loved it. I've been playing the flute for years now, and have experimented myself. My old Yamaha had slightly worn keys which was ace because it meant I could gliss between E and F#. How handy!

flutes don't get any love do they lol. anywho, i wanted to join jazz band, hopeful my dad would teach me how to read percussion, and my band director didn't even get me a permission slip for it because i'm a flautist! i mean my god! she doesn't even care if we play any other instruments besides the ones we play in concert band, she doesn't even let you audition to play the other instrument that is jazzy
