Has anyone tried out the free music notation software, Finale Notepad. I love to write music, but writing it all out by hand became very tedious and time-consuming, so I searched the internet for a better solution. What I came up with is Finale Notepad, and I have used it a lot in the few months that I have had it. It is easy to use, prints very nice sheet music, and as I said earlier, it is totally free. Of course, you can purchase other Finale software that has more features, but Finale Notepad can do quite a bit. To read more of my thoughts, read what I wrote at http://hubpages.com/_musiclinks0526/hub/finalenotepad

Yeah, I've seen Finale Notepad before. It's quite useful, and a great free music notation program.

yeah i tried Finale Notepad as well and found it to be very good and quite intuitive to use, it also prints out music beautifully. I just have to gripe about the lack of flexibility within the notation of a score though: the software doesnt allow for changes in key signature, time signature, as well as clef within a piece. When I was trying to transpose a score for Horn in D to horn in F, the notes went to the bass clef quite often which resulted in me just writing manually on the printed score that certain notes are meant to be played 1/2 octaves lower. To me, that is a major disadvantage of this software. But i have to admit, for the price (or lack thereof, lol) this software is great! =)

Wow sounds like a great program. I know there are a lot of music writing programs and a bunch of them are like under $100. I didn't know that there was an actual free music writing program floating around online.
