Those are the four best bands we have that participate in BOA. Adair Co. does DCI shows every once in a while and they get really high scores when they do.

How is the class system done in Utah? Is it by school size or by band size or something else? And how many different classes are there?

The class system is determined by school size (The number of students who attend the school.) There are 5 sizes; 1A,2A,3A,4A, and 5A which is the largest.

We changed to that in 2005, but before it was done by band size. It was more fair sound wise that way but the classes were too uneven.

Well I know that California does theirs by band size but they have 1A through 6A. A friend of mine told me that a 140 person band would just be in 3A. Also their scoring system is extremely easy compared to KY's and a few other states.

most compitions in Va go by how many horns you have, so we are a 1A band

Our class system is done by the enrollment of the school over the past 3 years, it goes from 1A to 5A. We are 3A, the second hardest class, 5A is the hardest because that's where our big bands are, but the current state champion of our class, Adair County, has been state champion 18 out of the past 22 years!

We are the Eagles. I live in Va and we've never gone by the number of horns. We just go by the number of people in our marching band (including color guard) and we're usually 1a or 2a depending on the competion- we have about 70 members.

yea the past 3 years it has rained the day before vboda and we couldn't march on the host school's field, so we had to march in their parking lot which sucked, so we're going to host it cause we have astro-turf, i think we're the only high school in va to have astro-turf, so it's pretty cool, plus during practice when we have breaks we all take our shoes off and run around on the field lol

I'm from KY so ha! We kick butt! Not our band, but generally the top bands in each class. Our principal actually make sure that students are out of the student parking lot before we practice, if they don't we can have their car towed. Its sad the only way I can be involved in high school marching band is to be an instructor.

We have our own practice field which has to be re-lined once a week but every friday (home game days) we practice on the turf. Yea, sometimes we do warm-ups in the parking lot and 2 years ago some of the seniors went out and parked there cars right next to our band director's car so he was stuck, it was pretty awsome. Oh and last year they put balloons and sticky notes covering his office during practice so hewalked into his office and was like, wtf? lol

I've actually marched over several vehicles that were parked in the parking lot during practice with my sousa on because that's what we're told to do, but I'm the only one who has actually done it.
