i was just curious. i play the violin. when i started playing it(i've been playing for seven months now), i learned how to appreciate the other instruments especially those that belong to the woodwind section--and i'd like to try one(the flute maybe or the clarinet?)how much does those things cost?

Well if your talking buying a student model... probably 600$+ for a new one.

If your just going to try one out I suggest just renting one, some clarinets go as low as 6$ a month to rent and I think flutes are the same. If they do offer insurance, I suggest paying for that too.

Hope I helped.

Flute requires LOTS of air support, Oboe... Oboe is another story all together. I wouldn't suggest starting on oboe (although it is a WONDERFUL instrument, which I love dearly). Saxophone is O-o.... Loud, noisey, and easy to play. Clarinet is nice....
