How dedicated are you to music? Do you practice your instrument once a week? Once a day? Once an hour? Do you constantly have songs stuck in your head that you played for your last concert? Does everything that comes out of your mouth have to do with music? Out with it!

I practice my trombone once a day. if i had a euphonium, id dedicate 1 hour to each instrument. I have all my band's music stuck in my head. On percentage, 42.7 % of what i say has to do with band or music.

no fair, the questioner should answer too!

i practice when i can. closer to daily than weekly, but not actually daily- ib junior year is crazy. the instrumental practice balence wasnt a question so i'm not going to go into it. getting the most recent concert music stuck in your head is for noobs, i get pieces from freshman year stuck in my head half the time! earlier today i was singing music from 7th and 8th grade. aaand i dont remember the last question, but my answer is 42.

All right. I'll answer.

I've almost always got a song stuck in my head...

Sadly, I don't really practice that much. I'm just too lazy to lug my bass clarinet around with me everywhere. If I could download hard music for the bass clarinet, maybe I would be inspired more...

I talk about band all the time. That, or I don't talk at all. Or I say something strange or nerdy.

I'm somewhat dedicated, but not as much as "tJack", who lives and breathes music and OBSESSES over getting a new trombone. You'll get one eventually, Tanner.

There is no excuse for my not practicing. I must practice more. I must find this music. I will use my brain.

Hi. I have been playing music on one instrument or another all my life. Violin when I was a kid. Didn't practice at all. Teenager was guitar and it was in my hand every second I got. Before school, between lunch and school, after school...even between dinner and dessert. Mother always calling me ... Played with Rock bands, folk groups and then into theatre and Classical guitar. And also learned Blues Harp from Don Baker( World Champion who happened to play the same clubs as I did at the time) Since all that I have retired. Now I've taken up Flute for a few months but dropped it in favour of Clarinet three weeks ago. Bought a cheapo to start with and Tune a Day. And I do at least 2 pages every day... I do voluntary work from home now. Pick up the Clari 5 or 6 times a day and go through the pages my teacher has marked for me. So I practice in small doses, but a lot. I also sing with our local Choral Association, so I'm doing music every day in one way or another. I've only had a few lessons so far. My teacher wants me to go for grade 2 in Sept! and has invited me to play with her little beginners quartet. Which I did last weekend. Having a good grasp of reading and playing behind me has been a great help of course. So... I practice all I can! I wanna be good... and soon ...

Woah. You're really dedicated. I love hearing about people practicing that much because it makes me realize how much I'm wasting by not practicing. Even though I can't bring my bass clarinet home, I can still practice the clarinet or the trumpet or trombone (Neither of which I know how to play). I guess I think that if I hear enough about people practicing all the time and being really dedicated to music, I'll want to practice more so I can say "All I do is practice! I don't even live!"

I practice once a day from anywhere between 30 min. to 1 1/2 hours, depending on the day. I ALWAYS have a song stuck in my head, usually jazz.

I try to practice for at least 1 hour per day.

I still don't have very strong lips, so it's hard with oboe sometimes.

Hi XOXO. I agree with your "practice" method. Play loads...of anything. But playing anything is practicing...! James Galway suggests to his students to take a scale and play around with it. I do the same, "practice" what I'm supposed to know for the next class... then break off and try out a tune in my head, or make up something, or try to make out a bit of a concerto .... and so on. That way I don't get bored with (so-called)"practice"...

I practice pretty much every day, the piano is right next to my computer. Some days I'm busy all day and don't have time. When I'm really upset I sit down and play "Cristofori's Dream," all ten pages. I think I almost live music. Sometimes a line in a book will start an orchestra in my head.

Let's just say I practice so much, that I'll get distracted during tests by filling in the answer bubbles with the notes on the current piece I'm playing.
