Doesn't everybody love a good long practice session? I know I do. It's nice when you know you've accomplished something. It's nice to know you've strengthened your lips. It's nice to feel that your air stream is getting better, stronger, faster.

Isn't it relaxing to practice? It is for me.

Ah, I love that feeling! It's so rewarding to play oboe, or any musical instrument for that matter.

Maybe not electric triangle though....

Me too! I'll think it has only been 15 minutes of practicing, but in reality it's been 40!

No? You don't get that feeling ure_name_here? -Okay, I'll admit thet your username is kind of wierd put in a sentence, no offence- I love that feeling, but it can only happen if you have a true love for the instrument you play. I used to think of playing the oboe as something that I had been stuck with, something that was just another chore. Now I play whenever I'm upset or frustrated, and it relaxes me. I love the oboe!

Yes! The other day, (Friday) I got a new oboe! The sad thing is, It was an upgrade from my Yamaha 214... or something like that. Anyways, my old one was a very basic beginner student oboe, and I had outgrown it. Turns out I wasn't quite ready for so many holes in the keys! Mu ring fingers couldn't fit over the 3 and 6 key AT ALL! I practiced for 6 HOURS over the weekend, so determined. I got it after three hours, perfected after another two, and spent an hour just drooling over the sound of that thing! It's beautiful!

My new oboe is a top-of-the-line student Fox Renard. I'm not sure of the model. I'll probably be getting a wood professional here in a few (or more than a few) years.

I LOVE playing my bassoon. You must love to play the instrument you play in order to major or minor in it as well! Also, good for you Jazz Oboe, I am glad you are happy!

How do you practice when you are upset? I have tried but when I am upset or angry I just can't practice or play my instrument. It's like this is a beautiful thing and the anger just ruins it.

But I know so many people who say they do, and lots of people here on this site do also.
How do you do it?
