I really like the English Horn, yet so many people have not a clue as to what it is!

John - You just need to calm down for 3 minutes, then forget about everything and lose yourself to music. It always works for me!

I know! When I started to play the oboe, no one even knew what that was! So i'm pretty positive that no one at my school will have ever heard of an english horn!

Oh and john, if you're upset, use it to your advantage! If your sad play something slow or in a minor key and use your extra emotion to add lots of emotion to the piece. Or, if your angry, play something fast! Then after a while you should start to forget why you were upset or angry! Well this works for me at least....

When I play the trombone I forget about everything except the music. Even anger or depression. (Same with singing, playing recorder, piano, etc.)

I wouldn't say I necessarily forget, but my worries certainly go to the back burner, lol

I LOVE to practice! I play viola and practice about 3-4 hours a day. I really love the feeling when you draw that bow against the strings! And i defitely lose track of time when i do practice. I play in my middle school orchestra and been playing for one year but amazingly i'm the second (or third) best player in my orchestra. The best one has been playing for five years (or more) and the second has been playing for three years and i can play the music that the second best one is playing already! Sadly i don't take private lessons but i'm strongly looking into it.

Ah, it's great to just wind down and get lost in the music for a few minutes...or hours.
Seriously, I can't think of any thing more relaxing then forgetting about a crappy day by picking up my guitar, and jamming away.
