SUBLIME’S BUD GAUGH RETURNS TO LONG BEACH
TO SHOWCASE NEW BAND DEL MAR

LATEST MUSIC PROJECT FEATURES ORIGINAL SURF TUNES AND RAUCOUS MELODIC SKATEPUNK

LONG BEACH CONCERT ALSO FEATURES ROME AND KAT, BERT SUSANKA AND THE ASTRONAUT LOVE TRIANGLE, SEXRAT, STINKY PINKY, AND THE TAILS

LONG BEACH, CA – Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh, who now resides in the Tahoe/Reno area, is slated to make a homecoming of sorts when his new band Del Mar plays a Long Beach club this Thursday night, July 23 at DiPiazzas.

Combining high energy, tongue-in-cheek skate punk with classic surf instrumentals, Del Mar’s first release After The Quake on Half Of Nothing Records, is a vivid potpourri of slap-happy musical styles. A common thread runs through the disc depicting life after the “big one” and some of the bizarre people that inhabit the wild west. These themes are held together by a colorful cast of characters including roadside Reno prostitutes, unwashed beach bums, meth heads, and even a giant jellyfish. This all adds up to an intense and rather peculiar listening experience of in-your-face music deliberately played with utter abandon by the four members of the band. Gaugh also is the driving force behind Del Mar which also includes vocalist Matt Bode, Bassist Mike Martinez, and Gaugh’s wife, guitarist Nicole Hutcheson.

In addition to Del Mar, also appearing on the bill are local Long Beach duo Rome and Kat. Talks are underway to reunite Sublime founding members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson later this year with Rome (Ramirez) taking over lead vocal duties. It’s a safe bet that Sublime songs will be on the bill for this Long Beach show and might even include an impromptu reunion of these members. Rounding out the show are Half Of Nothing Records label mates SexRat from Sacramento and local favorites Bert Susanka’s Astronaut Love Triangle as well as local acts Stinky Pinky and The Nails.

Del Mar’s debut CD After The Quake is available now from iTunes, CD Baby, and from the bands website www.delmarreno.com

Thursday night’s show takes place at DiPiazzas, 5204 E. Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach. Call 562-498-2461. For those unable to see the band Thursday, Del Mar plays with SexRat and Astronaut Love Triangle and Stereofix at Gypsy Lounge, 23600 Rockfield Blvd, Lake Forest CA on Friday July 24, and with Rhymestone, Dogs Day, the SKWLETONS, and INHALE at Stingers Nightclub in San Bernadino at 194 W. Club Center Drive on Saturday night, July 25.
