Do you people have any musical sounds that just really get on your nerves?
I can`t stand the sound of childrens choirs- at university, most of the vocal students are over 20, and for good reason- children just don`t have the physical development to be really good singers.
I also get annoyed by large groups of strings, unless they are written for, and played, really well- this is a huge factor in why I prefer chamber music to orchestral music.

Well, if they are played correctly, then should be quite ok. But I used to hate electronic music alot. ie: Electronic Guitar, electronic violin...really dead against em, till one day I met this wonderful group of `electric` musicians. Well, since then, I changed my mind abt. them . But there`s one thing I really can`t stand. That is Mike ofields( sorry, I think the spelling is wrong ) music. And I`m not a big fan of harmonica also. Oh yeah, I hate midi music also.

There are probably gonna be a few people hating me because of this, but I hate the oboe. Sorry, but it`s just really annoying. Also I know what Rachel means about string instruments.

I hate bright pianos. They hurt my ears.
I hate bad vibrato.
I hate electric bass, or maybe I hate the amps. Whatever.
I hate MIDI.
I hate it when people change key at unreasonable places.
I hate atonality.
I hate snare drum.
I hate metronome clicks.

Hey, I`m with u on that. I hate her also. I hate untolerable bright tone colour:ie: Bright human voive, bright strings, bright and really glaring and screechy sax. etc... And I`m with u on the snare drums also.

I hate trombone for some reason
i also can`t stand out-of-tune bands, it just makes me wanna scream, and when people hit a wrong note.
Flute only sounds good when people know how to play and they use good vibrato and tone support. Strings also annoy me. Midi files only sound good on some voices.
I would have to disagree on oboe being annoying, Rebecca in our band has the most beautiful sound Ive ever heard.
Oh yeah when the egotistical trumoets try to scream as loud and high as they possibly can.

I play clarinet, it really makes me mad when people (no offence to the third clarinets) just don`t sound like clarinets, more like a cow in heat
I love the sound of the french horn and mellaphone when its played correctly

I agree with Shan about out-of-tuneness and wrong notes- I hate when people are trying to sing or play something, and they aren`t even following the contours of the melody!!!! I cannot fathom how it is possible to be so tone-deaf.
One thing I forgot in my original post is that I hate, hate, HATE AND DETEST AND LOATHE excess vibrato. I think flute players are often guiltly of this- the head of winds at my uni is a flautist, and his notes shake all over the place. The other offenders are string players (especially cellists) and singers.
I also play the clarinet, and I really hate it when I get a bad sound. I also hate it when I am playing well, and another clarinettist is detracting from that by playing out-of-tune with a horrible tone.

i hate electric guitar, and all the stupid electronic sounds like that, they really annoy me.

I hate my moms Church choir. It`s a bunch of old ladies ... like 60+, and they can`t sing to save their lives. They also sing at such a high pitch that no one can keep up with them. It`s worse than a fingernail against a chalk board.

Yeah, you spelled piccolo right. One day one of the floutists in our flute ensemble was tuning all of the other flutes on vibrato! She was doing vibrato! Your not suppose to do that...right? Yeah, piccs can get annoying- but if played very well- and in tune- then it can surprisingly produce a very nice sound. Although, when you get more than one together it is a different story lol.

hey oboes are cool!!!i`m just saying that because i play the oboe.see in my opinion the oboe either sounds like a sick duck or a duck.i sound like a ducky.flutes get on my nerves.especially if i have to sit by them.

you hate oboes! WHAT!!!!! that`s craziness! oboes rule. i hate piccolos and flutes and alicia keys. trumpets are annoying, as are tenor sax`s. i LOVE OBOES (depending on player and tone)~!
