Anyone know the easiest and cheapest way to purchase a ukelele? I think violin and ukelele would sound neat together.

I bought my basic ukulele from a small local music shop for merely 25 pounds. There are four types of ukulele (like saxophone)- mine is soprano. I would recommend going to a music shop which specialises in stringed instruments such as guitars, banjos etc.

Don't go for 'cheap'. If you really want to play ukulele, then it is wise to spend some money on that. There are a lot of el-cheapo's out there, mainly poorly-built Chinese ones. Cheap means regret with a ukulele. Once you tried for instance a Fender then you will know the difference. Far better quality and sound. That is, if you put decent strings on them

Aloha. I'm a professional ukulele player from Hawaii. I have quite a few ukuleles ranging from a custom 6 string Hawaiian curly koa and a couple of Kamakas..but to answer your question I found quite a gem in a student uke on amazon in the sawtooth st uke ms. It's about $35. We got ours on sale for $20. I've been using it as a student uke. It has Aquila strings, great volume, stays in tune. Great deal with Amazon prime..best ukulele for under $50. I also play the violin and a few other things, and have played violin with ukulele and banjo, etc. Its best to have a guitar to balance out the high notes. Sounds like you're going to be having some fun jam sessions!
