Sax is easy? good for me then cause im learning starting friday! but yea, flute isn`t the hardest...i give you that...piano is deffinately harder.....but i only said flute because of watching all these people struggle to get a sound out....but after that, it couldn`t be easier! all though once you get "good" its hard to get great. By then you really need a tutor to help with your tone...tone and emboshier are the 2 things that make flute "hard".....

Well, if you`re gonna get into range and stuff, the flute isn`t really hard over the high E, and clarinet isn`t really killer either... I would think oboe and bassoons are hard on the high notes probably...

ok I PLAY the flute. It`s Easy! you might have a problem at first but usually it`s because you normally can`t just pick up an instrument and say, "I think I`ll play this today." when you`ve never played it.
In 7th grade when I first played a High E. after like a year of playing flute. I got it on the first try. It`s really not that hard.
Let`s all just put it simply... any Large instrument is probably gonna be pretty hard.
Oh and the Oboe?? My friend (who plays Sax`s and clarinets) randomly decided he`d play Oboe this year and he could play it the day after he got it. He had some help from skill and fingering books but It can`t be that hard to play.

What about the bagpipes?
that takes a lot of air, plus the songs with gracenotes, and different movements? And then you have to play them marching, so that means you have to memorize them.

Definately piano. So much more can go wrong!!! I play French horn and piano to the same level (grade 7) and i find Piano much much harder. Aswell as having two lines to read, and up to 9 more notes to play at one time, there is pedalling, and just fitting my hand around the piano. Also, i think more is expected of piano players than any other instrument at `the same level`

The hardest instruments are definately the French Horn, the Bassoon, the oboe and the English Horn.
The french horn becuase of the embrasure anf the fact that the fingerings are so close together!!!!! The bassoon is second because of the strange fignerings and the fact that it is generally needed to be played loudly, which can be very difficult (I speak from experience. Aswell as the fact that it requires 10 fingers to play and there are about 9-10 thumb keys for the left thumb and 5 for the right thumb!!!! The Oboe and English Horn are third because again, the strange fingerings, the keys are very `fiddly` and easy to press the wrong ones!!!! Also it is hard to play because you need to put so much air through a tiny reed. This requires alot of air, so oboists (at least at the begining) run out of air pretty quickly. The same applies to the English Horn, which is very similar to the Oboe.

oboe b/c it`s hard to get the reed in and out without breaking itnot only that but they cost a LOT of money and you have to blow a certain way but the french horn is equaly as hard b/c of the way you shape your lips when playing...
