I cont think you can, if you can i don`t know about it, that`s what i hate about Finale it does stupid things you don`t want it to do, it`s like a notation version of MS word...

what you do is use the layer button at the bottom left hand corner ex you have a whole g note on the treble clef and you want to put a rest over it, hit the number"2" at the lower left hand corner and u should be able to do it

Click articulation tool and click on the note and then on the little `tr` symbol in the window that appears. But when you hit play it doesn`t trill the note for you, just as it doesn`t play dynamics.

I have finale 2003 the full version, and if you use the dynamics tool, it will play each level (change from forte to piano) but won`t play dynamic effects (crescendos, diminuendo). The only problem is that piano on a tuba is much louder than piano on a double bass. You have to play with them a little to know which level to use with each type of instrument.
