Not really a song... a song cycle. Schubert`s "Der Winterreise". The guys fiancee has just dumped him and he is wandering through the snow thinking about how he is sad and wants to die and will never be happy again.
Schumann`s Dichterliebe is pretty sad too. What happens in that song cycle is that the man is in love with a girl, but she is in love with someone who rejects her, so she goes off with the first young man who comes along, which breaks the first guy`s heart. The first song is incredibly poignant.
