I play the irish flute now, I like it because of its dark woody tone, irish music just doesn`t sound right on a modern flute.

I started out on trumpet around 89 or so and moved through all the brass and then picked up guitar and flute after high school and now I`m playing mostly flute, guitar, mandolin and bouzouki but once in a while I dig the trumpet out of the closet and play for a while.

Well I started with the flute for I loved it from the moment I picke it up. That was in 1996. It is now 2003 and I play clarinet, alto sax., barritone, guitar, piccolo (I would hace to say I love as much as the flute) and an assortment of whistles and other types of flutes.

I wanted to play trombone originally, but I was way too short (couldn`t get it out to 6th position) so I started to play with my foot but my director made me quit. Thus I switched to trumpet. I want to learn trombone again though.

Well, I`ve been playing my two primary instruments ( piano and violin) for twenty over years...but funny though...I dun feel at ease with em all the time. Perhaps it takes more than time, eh? I do play the viola and the cello ( that is if I dun kill anyone with it). and I play the guitar real clumsily. I`ve been playing the guitar for a few years...but can`t seem to really get the hang of it. Perhaps one string too many is not such a gd thing afterall.

I started playing piano at the age of four `cause my dad plays. Then, in second grade I started to play the violin for two years `cause my parents thought the violin was the instrument for me and so did my teacher, until he encoureged me so much that I quit. In third grade I started playing the clarinet cause my school made all pupils in my grade play. From the beginning they wanted me to play the altosax but I did love classical music and switched to clarinet, an instrument I love almost more than anything else together with the piano and tenor, of course.

I started playing my instrument just for fun. But now I have been playing for a little over a year, and I skipped intermediate band. I started playing my mellophone when I got back from winter break. I really wanted to play it. For those of you who don`t know, a mellophone is like a mix of french horn notes and the shape of a trumpet. But it is a lot longer than a trumpet, but the same weight. Now i`m first chair mellophone.

I started the clarinet when a music program had just been introduced to my school. They had people to give us a demonstration of the sounds of all the different instruments available 2 play at my school. Its funny, coz the clarinet player didnt turn up, so the trumpet player was made to give a demonstration of the clarinet... he was really bad!!! After the demonstration, I wanted to play flute. But then when I got home, my older sis said she wanted to play flute as well, and there was no way I was gonna play the same instrument as her. I don`t know what possessed me, but I decided clarinet (and i`m now really glad).. but I don`t know why I chose clarinet, because the demonstration was extremely bad, no wonder my primary school had so few clarinettists. But now I really like the clarinet, and its sound, ive been playing for 7 years now, and i`m doing my Amus. I`m also starting 2 teach myself flute now, but i much prefer clarinet! I also play violin, guitar, piano.
