I am 13, am grade 6/7 Clarinet, grade 3 Bassoon and Grade 3 Oboe. I love the violin, and really want to start learning to play it. I know it will be hard because its just so fundamentally different to woodwinds, but is it worth learning it??? I wouldn`t have a problem getting lessons or the violin itself. But I would have to convince my folks that it`s a good idea. So, I put it to you people. Is it worth it?

YES it is. Violin produces the most beutiful sound in the world (in my eye of course). And you already have an advantage of reading notes, am I correct? That makes it sooo much easier.

No. Don`t waste your time. You will be sucked into a vortex. Bettter to make those woodwinds sound really good. (There is nothing like a bassoon).

Go for it and enjoy it. I am 34 and started learning to play about a year and a half ago, and have really enjoyed it. I just wish I had started sooner

I have a huge choice to make.........quit Oboe to start Violin, or just stick with Clarinet, Bassoon and Oboe. I can't decide!!!!!! My folks say that it's too expensive to play them all, so i have to quit one to take up Violin. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!!

heres a suggestion: u could rent a violin for about a month (raise the money by doing chores or sumthin) it shouldnt be more than 20 or 30 bucks. try it out, and if u like it after a month, stick to it.
