Has anyone here ever heard an electric violin? Is the sound difference big or just slight? I would really like to know more about them because I have been considering buying one for myself.

Thanks

WHOA!

I have one. :p

Yes, they are extremely gorgeous, make a more rich sound than an acoustic given you have the right equipment to producee that sound on an electric.

Otherwise the acoustic would sound better, hehe.

But I suggest if you're thinking about getting one, a Silent Violin made by Yamaha, which is what I have. If you want a picture of it just tell me and I'll send you one, or you can simply search on google.

Much easier to get a variation in dynamics, however if played too much it can be harder to produce the same variance on an ordinary one. v fun to play though and good for performances!

Well, it depends on the performance. It's not going to do very good at a recital, kind of like classical style, because, well, you know. Electrics are good to be where the concert would accept it.
