Here in Asia, most kids use cheap China-made strings costing abt US$4 a set. But most of them don't sound very good.
I want to a set of Dominant strings but fractional sizes are not commonly available here. We have to pre-order and they cost more than 4/4 size. I was told I could get a regular 4/4 size set and use on my son's 1/4 size violin. Is it true that I just need to turn more rounds round the pegs? Any difference in the sound between that and the purpose made 1/4 size strings?
