Hey there, my tuning pegs on my violin have gotten stuck and are hard and/or impossible to move. Does anyone have a quick fix that could work before sending it to a shop?

music stores sell what violinists often refer to as "peg dope". its a stick of a brown paste that you can apply to your pegs to keep them from sticking.

Slipping pegs is NOT NATURAL the best way to fix that is short term, peg dope or some type of other remedy, and long term, is just to get some new pegs. They dont cost much, i cant remember how much they were.

An inexpensive "quick fix" for pegs that stick is a bar of soap. Just pull the peg and rub the bar of soap on the peg will give it sufficient lubrication to move. Don't overapply or you will have trouble keeping the string in tune.

well, you can take them out and sand them with fine sandpaper, to roughen them up a bit so they wont slip, but i dont know how most people would re-act to sanding down part of a violin :D

i dont think it hurts at all tho
