I'm at a total loss. I live in Jacksonville, Fl and I've looked in the yellow pages and on the net and I am having a really hard time going about finding a teacher. Any suggestions?

There are some web sites like Musicstaff.com etc that is a database of music teachers. Also you can check your local music store (they may have teachers that teach right in their store. You can also call your local school and ask thei music teacher for a list of private music teachers (they will have friends who teach privately or they may ) plus they recomend teachers to their students who want to study privately.

Check out your local papers. Some teachers might advertise there (also check the bullitin boards at your local library or super markets.

Good Luck

Amy

Go to a music stores. They ALWAYS know where teachers are! That's how I found my teacher, and she's great! Try finding Hendson's music. They are a chain surprizingly!

Hi,
thks for advice. I went to the SA Symphony website. Yes, they do provide a list of the players who teach privately as well.
My question is :
Assuming money is not an issue. Is it better to get a "professional" teacher (from a music school), or a symphony player for a teacher? Assume it is for an intermediate level student.

Do you know if there are video lessons you can buy? I live in the middle of knowhere, and I got into a argument with the music store owner so now I can't go back.
