i haven't played my violin in over 5 years, and i was thinking about selling it, there is no place where i live to have it appraised, does anyone know where i can go (like a website or something) that can tell me about how much my violin is worth? i tried to going to the website of the maufacturer of the violin and it wasn't very helpful

How about holding on to it and playing 10 minutes a day? Or maybe use it as a decor piece. I could not imagine getting rid of any of mine... even if they got to show me their true colours as beginner instruments, I probably would use them as decor, and still play them ... What violing to you have?

the thing is, i'm in college now, and i'm so short for money i dont' really have a choice, i have 1997 Glaesel, the model # is V131E4, it says on the inside it was a handcrafted replica of strativarius from germany. My parents paid $800 for it brand new

How about asking your parents for a loan and ask them to hold the violin for you as collaterol? It would be a shame to sell such a beautiful instrument and regret it later. I'm sure your parents wouldn't want you to sell it either. Talk to them.
