Hi:
I recently inherited my mothers' violin, and have taken it to a good luthier for set up, new sound post, fine tuners, etc.
There is a label inside which says: "Johannes Gabbrielly Florence anno 1763." A pretty thorough search of the internet reveals no maker by that name, so I assume it is a cheap to mid-range violin produced by a factory not in Florence, and not in 1763.
If anyone has information on this make or where it may have been made, would you be so kind to share?
I remember mum playing this when I was a boy, and it had a beautiful tone. We were forbidden to even look at it in the case, so I guess to her it had value.
Thanks for any info forthcoming.
Regards:
3F.

G.B. Gabrielli (Gabbrielli)is a famous leading Florence maker in 18th century. If your violin is genuine Gabrielli, it could sell a good money. If you have photos, you could send them to me, I could give you some of my thoughts.
