read a lot of reviews of the violins you're looking to purchase.
i agree with the person above saying that you probably will have to spend more to get a better quality one.
but if you're just beginning to learn, then i think if you wanted to go a bit cheaper you could probably find something in your price range that will work fine for you.
like i said read a lot of user reviews though. sometimes you may be able to find something with in your price range and just replace some things. get new strings, perhaps a new bridge?
i don't know too much about electric violins as i play traditional. but research will be your best friend right now
