I'm on currently learning vibrato and my hands hurt when I am trying to practice. My teacher said that its normal to feel pain at the beginning or when its your first time. She said I have bear the pain at first upto that time that my hands are ok with it. Does it really hurt?

Anyone who can share tips in vibrato? Please.

It doesn't hurt when i do vibrato, but my vibrato isn't the greatest. just make sure that your wrist isn't moving to far, and that your finger is rolling in its tip. you kinda have to pull back with your finger as you move back your wrist. you would be better getting tips from your teacher, i think its something you have to be shown...

Even after being shown, vibrato is probably one of the hardest things to learn on violin.. some get it quickly, others it takes years to get it sounding good. When you're first starting, do it very slowly and make sure its even, and only do it on long notes until you get a hang of it more.

I don't think my hand ever hurt when I was first starting it.. maybe and I just don't remember? Not sure :P

The vibrato technique should never hurt. This means you are stressing your hand too much. Do your exercise 5 minutes a day every day and you will start to improve and be pain free.

Just to be clear: By "stressing" I'm pretty sure the above person means (more specifically, I think) tensing. Just relax your wrist; use only the muscles actually necessary and only to the degree they are actually necessary.
