I play the bass clarinet and the bari sax, but I really want to learn how to play the violin. The thing is, I can't find anyone to teach me, and my parents won't buy me a violin. I can't even tell the difference between a violin and... a cello! I don't even know... Please help me!

Ok let's see here...
You are madly wanting to play the violin, yet you don't know what it looks like.
You have (for strings,) the BASS, the CELLO, the VIOLA, and the VIOLIN.
The bass is the lowest of them all, having a really deep sound and playing it while standing or sitting on a stool. In people's thoughts, it's one of those rugged instruments that you have to shift a lot in! LOL.
The Cello is like the Tenor in the family. Closest Instrument to the human voice. Remarkably beautiful and usually considered the highlights of the family.
The viola is in between the cello and the violin...kinda...They like to keep the beat...Once you start getting really really into it, progress starts to accumulate rapidly...it's a beautiful instrument!
The violins are considered the leaders of the family. Although I like to contradict that, often, it is quite true. The highest sound in the four strings and often acquiring with the melody.

I myself play the violin and the cello and find them unremarkable beautiful.
If you desire to play the violin, go for it. Try to consider renting a violin if your parents want to keep track of your schedule or how well you are doing. Then, they can pay less!!...i did it once..and then my parents got me one..!!!

Thank you! The way it sounds, I may want to play the cello or the viola. The violin would be far too different. Hm...

you play the viola like a violin on your shoulder, so they are kinda the same except the viola is bigger in size. the cello is like a mini double bass and you play it sitting. the cello sounds lovely, but might be a bit more difficult to rent or hire then a violin or viola.
