One of the local professors here where I live (Dr. Luis Casal a famous violinist from Panama) once told us during a master class that its important to give your instrument a name, in order for you to bond with it more.

I named my violin Yue, meaning moon in chinese, because my violin is from china (A Yuan Qin)

So now im curious to know what you named your violin (or anyother instrument for that matter)

If you would name it what would you call it? And if you have already what it's name?

I have an accoustic guitar (i STILL don't know how to properly play it) that I named Pico'. He's totally "Hecho en Mexico"

my violion I have now is a FRANZ MEÜLLER but I don't know if its a boy or a girl yet... well either way it'll be a german name. so if its a girl- Verena (i had a penpal in germany by that name) or if its a boy- Jorma [yo-muh](theres a foreign exchange student here this year by that name and he's amazing)

but then... I'm in the school mariachi band... so maybe it should have a mexican name???

I got a violin for christmas from my grandma and my mom and
I named it Gurtrued. (a.k.a gurty) I usually just say my violin when I
talk about it though. If I do talk about it sometimes though I just
say Gurty cause I like that better.

kelan. irish name meaning warrior. I am an irish and scottish fiddler, so it's pretty fitting.

Wow, what wonderful names. a friend of mine has a cello he calls grandpa because its ancient and has a few cracks in it. Dr. Luis Casal called his violin Isabella.

I didnt even think about naming my bow...... I guess I have to think about it a bit more lol

Well, My violin is named Arria (with rolled r's). She is the only one I have had, and I inherited her from my grandmother's best friend, who received it in turn from her father. I'm sure she was named something before I inherited her, however as I didn't know the lady who gave Arria to my grandmother to give to me, I don't know what that name was.

My french Horns have also been named. My first horn (well, my first horn after I became 'serious' about the horn) was named Lucy, the second horn was named Adriene and my current horn is named Isabella. If you spend enough time with the little darlings, they do get named... lol...
