I don't name my instruments because I can never think of one that's absolutely right, because I refuse to call it Franchesca. My cases, however, are named Bill and Phil.

The name of my main violin is "Angelo" because it's italian. I also have another violin, which is a 7/8 size little red french violin. Its name is "The little red one." Imaginative, huh? I also have a digital casio piano which I call "Kassu" (Kassu is the name of a gluttonish ostrich in the finnish translation of an old danish comic called Rasmus Klump)
my instruments have always had names. it's normal, right?

I bought my current 4/4 violin the day before yesterday, so it hasn't got any name yet. But my 1/2 violin was named Fiona, because of the Swedish word for violin: "fiol".

I have two violins. My first I got through ebay for £5.40 (about $8 or 6 euros!) His name is Tucker (after Tucker Jenkins, you Brits over 30 should know who he is!) My more recent and much more expensive violin is named Miles. Classy!

btw, my new violin is named Kalene. It's a Czech girls name that I found on the Internet. Kalene is made in Czech Republic, so that's why. :P

거북이 is its name. I'm not sure how to pronounce it except the first syllable is "Koh"
It means "Turtle" in Korean because I like turtles. Plus it has stickers of various aquatic animals on it, so I thought the name apt.
Also, it has a really rich sound, very methodical.
Disclaimer: I fiddle. Kind of fast for a turtle, but you would be surprised how fast these harmless little guys can go.
My bow...I haven't thought of that yet. I put stars on it, so I guess it would be 사격 스타, the Shooting Star
Somebody dropped it, though, so I am not sure how it sounds now. Maybe it's out of tune now.

Before Ive acquired any instrument I somehow imagined about naming it. Yes, i agree about naming your instrument. You somehow have a personal bond with it. I named my violin "Beulah" (Biblical: Heavenly Zion)because of the bird's eye maple wood design especially made by Shu-Mei Zhang. Looks like clouds!!! And my bow "Zuri" (French: white and lovely) because of its African white ivory frog with "abalone pearl." I'm pretty much attached to my violin more than to "Ebonique" (Greek: black) my piano. Though im an advanced pianist and an intermediate in violin playing. I fell in love with Beulah and Zuri is an unexpected blessing to the family. Daisy, my first (Guiseppe)violin, had a hard time breaking the bond with me. I had her for 4 years now, and we had such good times together, learning and performing and just simply making music together. When I'm depressed, i usually go to her and play melancholic songs, then i play the presto pieces and somehow lightens me up. Ive upgraded her so much from the bridge, strings, tailpiece and shoulder rest. her tonal qualilty improved alot through the years. But had to break away from her. Im having fun with Beulah now, though we're still on the "getting to know each other" stage. I still have to let her "sink in". her sweet tone encourages me so much, though, i know, improving more of my skills would help her sound even better. Unfortunately, she's only 2 months and 18 days old and she has more scratches than Daisy. Daisy doesnt have a single scratch. I cried when i got her first scratch. i take care of my instruments very much, treating it like a living person. I thank KUYA EGAY (Edgardo L. Patenio) for my Zhang violin. I dont deserve such a wonderful istrument!!!! Hope you guys would love your instrument too!!

I've had the same violin for almost eight years... I fell in love with the sheer impossibility of her. She's made of mahogany and absurdly heavy. My teacher at the time had played for fifty years and taught thousands of students, and it's the heaviest violin she'd ever held. Her harmonics are in the wrong places. She a deep reddish-brown, and in the low light she has a certain whimsical value to her, as if she's smiling at something I can't quite see. Her name is MoCuishle, or Mo for short. MoCuishle means "my beloved, of my blood" in Irish Gaelic. We grew up together, and I wouldn't trade her for the world. It took me several years, but I know her ins and outs, and she makes the most beautiful music, even in her imperfection. .

My Violin is named Concepción (after my Grandmother on my dad's side. She was full-spanish and her Parents brought it to Mexico with them from Spain. Then my Grandmother passed it on to my dad before she passed away and he passed it down to me, but anyway, its an antique Spanish violin that I play quite frequently)

My Oboe is named Alex. (No idea why... Its a Buffet)

My Flute is named Stupid Piece of Crap (Its a stupid Artley that sucks. Im gonna get a new one though)

My Clarinet is named Squidward (don't ask. my dad named it. Its also an Artley but it doesn't suck. Its actually pretty good considering it's used and I got it for free)
