if you dont have fine tuners you can finely tune your strings by gently pulling them sideways away from the violin 9not towards you) to flatten and by pinching the string at the top of the fingerboard/bottom of the pegbox.
More experienced violinists often have only one fine tuner (on their e string) because many strings are meant to be tuned with pegs, instead of fine tuners. E strings are not meant to be tuned with pegs unless dramatically out of tune.examples of strings like this are pirastro's evah pirazzi and obligato brands.
