Does the fine tuners affect the violin's tone? Cause i noticed expensive violin's don't have them whereas cheaper ones do have them.

if you dont have fine tuners you can finely tune your strings by gently pulling them sideways away from the violin 9not towards you) to flatten and by pinching the string at the top of the fingerboard/bottom of the pegbox.

More experienced violinists often have only one fine tuner (on their e string) because many strings are meant to be tuned with pegs, instead of fine tuners. E strings are not meant to be tuned with pegs unless dramatically out of tune.examples of strings like this are pirastro's evah pirazzi and obligato brands.

hope this helps!

Fine tuners absolute has an effect to the quality of sound you produce. Especially plastic ones. The metal ones doesnt resonate much. Unlike if you have a wooden tailpiece, the wood resonates the sound much better. Metal absorbs the sounds and thus does not produce brilliant tones. So, most of us, we only use one fine tuner particularly on the e string. e strings are difficult to pitch and breaks easily so a fine tuner helps alot. Im used to pegs on the g d and a strings. I pitch without any tuner i was trained to listen perfectly to the pitch. You could do that too!!!

Yea fine tuners do have an effect on your sound, its better to only have the one on your E string, the reason being is that its very hard to get an accurate pitch if you tune with the peg only. Also it decreases the risk that you break the string while tuning it in such a fashion.

yeah they do, just the weight of them.....it not huge but it does... and you can also get it better in tune with using the pegs.... you will notice though that the more expensive violins will have pegs that move real easy.... often the expensive one will just have one on the E string.....
