Hello my friends..
I ve been studying violin for 1 year and 6months. Unfortunately, this summer I was really really lazy.. I hadn't even touch the violin for a month till yesterday. I feel like I ve lost something. Today I realised how much I missed it. How long do you think it will take till I am at the level I was before? How many hours should I study to keep up with my old me???

Lol, I wouldn't worry about it so much - after my exam I went lazy and didn't practise for ages.. when I re-started I just practised as usual - single note long bows on each string to practise technique and string crossing, and scales to practise intonation and rhythm. I'm sure that if you start off simple like that, then you should have no problem getting back to how you were before.

I wouldn't practise for hours each day though, maybe start with 20-30 mins and then, if you want to, increase.

Just don't get down about it - I'd say keep doing the basic techniques for at least a couple of weeks, and when you think they are strong then go onto the basic exercises. It takes time, but it's better to do things properly rather than just rush ahead to playing pieces. It pays off in the long run :P

I've done that too! I would do some of the basic exercises your teacher may have shown you and go back to songs you knew really well and slowly work your way back up again. i wouldn't freak out about it, its not like the music gods have taken away your ability to play its just like anything else that you would be out of practice in. you just have to show yourself how to do it again. it will come back pretty quickly.
