I have replaced all of my strings, but I can't get my D string to fit into the tiny hole. The ball goes in, but the hair on the end of the string seems to be too thick. Now, the hair is holding the string to the violin, not the ball. Do I need to cut some of the hair off?
(Just to clarify, I mean the hairs near the ball, not the peg side.)

Hmm...this is a strange situation, if all your strings had this same problem i suggest buying another string brand and if its just that perticular D string you should go to the shop and get a refund or ask them to fix it for you..sorry I wasnt much help
