I play on a 3/4 sized violin, although I'm an adult. I play for fun, I don't play on being great or in an orchestra or anything, I guess I 'fiddle' since I don't read sheet music and make up my own tunes instead.
This is a great tool for beginners(picture link at bottom), although I hear many instructors advise against long-term use: it's an entire sticker you place under the strings, and it has multi-colored lines that indicate whole and half notes: this works ONLY if your violin is in perfect tune, for obvious reasons.
It's wonderful, especially since I hear a lot of other people struggling with 'fingering' and finding the right spots by staring at charts. But I suppose I sort of agree that using this for too long will result in a dependence, and you might not develop a finger-memory for playing.
