Using a scale system and arpeggio system in every key will give you solid muscle memory to rely on. Just remember to start slow and make sure the intonation is good before you speed it up.

The Carl Flesch system is really effective. Here is a video I made of a tutorial using Flesch's arpeggio system. It helps a lot! You will be more relaxed and in control with both hands.

That's interesting, JDan08.

In regards to muscle memory, I teach an exercise that helps us gain the correct technique, from the word go. It involves concentrating on simple movements.

Check it out at www.freeviolin.com under "Left Hand"

Enjoy,
Amy
