I don't know the real proper handling of the violin.

1- Make sure you don't knock it to other objects while carrying it.
2- Clean the rosin powder from it after each use by a soft dry cloth.
3- Keep it away from heat and humidity.
4- Store it in its case.

In summary, "Treat it as delicately as possible".

never ever ever leave a violin in a car, even in the boot (trunk). my late violin teacher did and his violin cracked.
