I`ve been playing the violin about 8 years and I also play the guitar and piano. I really like rock music and have been learning lots of violin solos and riffs by ear from bands like Green Day, Red Hot Chilli Peppers etc. So I was wondering if anyone can think of any songs with kick ass violin riffs?!

Dunno if it would be what your looking for but have you looked into folk? The fiddle plays an integral part in the music, if you are interseted I suggest Fairport Convention they fall into a kind of folk/rock category, hope it helps :-)

Evanescence has a song called WHISPER, which had a REALLY intence violin/orchestra interlude, as well as a really powerful choral and orchestra ending. Unfurtunately, the riff isnt included in the sheet music, but if you would like the notation, just email me! I found out the notes by listening to the song by my piano, and just figuring them out 1 by 1. lemme know!!

If the song has any melodic complexity, it`s a candidate for violin.... Think Beatles, Eagles, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Zepplin,

You`re gonna want to check out Mark Wood, rather than his violin website. But I don`t know his website name. Wood violins is his electric violin company (rockin violins I might add!). You know Dave Matthews Band has a lot of violin parts, but can`t help you with getting the notes. I just listen and try them out.
