The term "professional", when applied to musicians, is understood to mean someone who makes a living by playing for a professional orchestra, no doubt doing some teaching on the side. Those who are employed as occasional players are not generally referred to as professionals, neither are those who make a living from teaching (or busking!)
Since the number of available places in professional orchestras is very limited, only the very best conservatoire graduates have a hope of making it as professional players.

I found this forum looking for antique violins. That is why I started reading the posts. I didn`t know that this was a forum for one maker. I want to find out everything I can about violins.
Everyone have a Happy Holiday.
Merry Christmas,

One maker???

Huh? It isn`t a forum for one maker. There is one maker on it, but he does not own the forumn, he just posts to advertise his instruments from time to time.
The point is, this forum is attractive to beginners and young players, therefore it is not the place to find the serious makers and the high level dealers. To find those, you need to try maestronet.
So, do stay here and help the beginners, but don`t expect to get expert advice on valuations and so on, this isn`t the right place for that sort of thing.

Say Rebecca, I was wondering if you had a different link than the one on page 2?(I think) I didn`t see any pictures with you or the violin. I`d be interested in seeing what the violin looks like, so could you please add another link on this forum? Thanks~

Sorry for enteing your discussion about violins... So many different side topics has been already raised here, I dare to raise mine.
I would like to ask whether an adult person who played violin for 9 years (age 7-15) and stopped that 14 years ago still have a chance to play again. I am not talking about professional level here of course, but for a level to play acceptably well for your own pleasure.
See, I don`t have any ambitions, I just feel sick all those 14 years I didn`t even touch a violin. Just because of my attitude to play well, or don`t play at all. Since I realized I will go to university, I didn`t have time to play much and I stopped...
I can say, my level was not that high considering techniques I was teached, but ok to play solo sometimes at public student concerts. Our ensemble had about 12 concerts a year, but that was not big events.
