I can no longer download MIDI files without QuickTime being shoved in my face. Help?    20:50 on Thursday, August 21, 2014

Last time I was logged in this site I was able to upload all sorts of tabs made in Notepad, upload them and then download the file in MIDI, like as advertised. I can't do that anymore. Instead because of some backdoor deal that this site made with Apple that I'm unaware of I'm forced to use QuickTime. Problem is I need to upgrade to QuickTime PRO just to download the file. Screw that, and screw QuickTime. It doesn't matter after I uninstalled it, it still yells at me to use QuickTime. Trying to "save as..." only allows me to save it as a .pl file, which serves no use whatsoever. What happened here? Can I save my files as MIDIs ever again without QuickTime throwing itself in my face?

Hi
Nothing has changed here - certainly no back room deals! It must be something to do with your settings on your computer (you need to look for the default applications list for midi files). If you can save the .pl files you should able to just change the name to something.midi and it should work as a midi file I think.
Hope that helps!

Hi, thank you for your response. I do apologize if I came across as overly angry (and I did send one e-mail in particular that was even more so). I figured the problem out. I had to do a fresh install of a dedicated MIDI-playing software. I used this: http://soundfont-midi-player.en.softonic.com/ Not very useful for most other things but for playing MIDIs I already have it works fine. I had this saved on my hard drive but it still kept going to QT, so that's where I figured to do a new install on this computer, and suddenly it was this device that the downloaders first recognized when downloading my MIDI files. So that's something I need to remember next time.

All is fine now! Sorry for being !***!y about this.
