wow, this conversation is hilarious. There are some of sayin' "respect others opinions" yet at the same time calling them "brainwashed" or "idiot" for having them. People who follow Bush have their reasons and people rebel have their own; their reason is their own preference. It's the same with Green Day. Saying something/someone "sucks" makes me believe that you only know a portion of what you're talking about. (not always the case though, sometimes there can be no dought that something sucks). I find it funny how an anti-bush will call one of his followers "brainwashed by the media" even though the media prints mainly bad news and publicity. Only a small percentage of good news makes it to the media, so how can someone determine who's brainwashed and who isn't?
I don't care too much for Green Day. Their songs have always(not just their new ones) had that airy-like sound to them. The kind of song that makes you believe that the syllables in the lyrics doesn't match up with the rythme of the song, and has to be drawn out in abnormal places to make it fit. (not implying that that's what they do, just saying that's what it sounds like).
I agree that bands need to change every now and then, but just because they changed doesn't mean that their automatically good. If Green Days lyrics matched up with their music better and profected their composition alittle bit, they would a whole lot better.
I also like seal-nuts metaphore(sp?). Green Day isn't quite as terrible as Simple Plan or Good Charlotte.(or Britney Spears) but they're not acual rock legends like Pink Floyed, or The Stones. To become a rock legend you'd have to be extremly talented and making records for about four decades or more. Green Day has only been around for about 2 1/2 decades at the maximum(not sure of when their first label came out; I know it can't be any more than that because Billy Joe is in his mid-thirties and I don't think he made labels at 5 or 6 years old).
But anyway if the only previous knowledge of music you've had is SP and GC, then Green Day would seem like prodagies to you, but they arn't compared to the more experianced bands.
Yes I'm aware that The Rolling Stones and others were new bands at once too, but back then they weren't referred to as "legends" yet.

before someone says anything. I'm neither an Anti-bush or a follower. I don't get into politics much.
