hey, i have a band and we are having trouble recording our songs. First we record the drums with a backround guitar just for playback, then we add the 2 guitars and then the bass, then vocals.

We put the backround guitar so it sounds in the left speaker and the lead guitar in the right speake. vocals are in the middle and bass too, but after all of this it gets a really bad sound, its not that we have poor recording tools because the instruments alone sound pretty good, but when we put everything together it will just sound bad and unprofessional,

we have tried Audacity and Sonic Acid but maybe were doing something wrong with the process.

so can anyone help us giving us tips or any program that will make our songs sound better?

thx

try just playing it all together first...as in all of you at the same time record that then you know where everyhting goes.then go listen to the version that you put everything in seperatly on...listen to it and compare it to the live version......maybe then it wont sound like crap no offence
