NOFX rule all the way i say, punks not dead it`s just gone to bed!

Posers. I do agree with the first ones. Punk is in the attitude, mostly. Bands like Blink-182 and crappy stuff like that thought it was about having a minimalist music and not giving a * about the rest. They might have say something like "listen to this music man, there`s only 3 power chords and a back beat, had a good studio sound and we`ll be rich." After they make a video where they throw money by the window like if they had never give a * bout it. * But by the way, the Sex Pistols was a boys band too. I mean, a manager approach one of musiscian(Rotten i think) and decided to form a band. So he found other newbies with a rebel style, here are the sex pistols. Anyway, i still think they`re great for their content in lyrics and philosophy

After some chik at my skool had this crap magazine telling you how you can look "punk" i realise that was taking it too far! Punk is a state of mind, sure we dress differently but i don`t need lessons on it. I think we as punkers should stand up for long lost bands over the decades who made punk what it is today. Hands down to sex pistols and the ramones.

My friends, I could not agree more. Today`s punk `rock` is an embarassment to the institution that is real rock.
Blink 182, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, The Androids, etc. etc. etc. would like to think that they are rock stars, but really,the only way these bands are selling music is thanks to the 8 yr old market.
Only 6 months ago I would have agreed with ringo`s statement that `real rock is dead,` but thanks to a new wave of talent such as the White Stripes and their fellow rockers, I have had faith enstilled in me again.
Also, to my american counterparts, I name as few bands you should have a listen to.

I`m in between. The white stripes have a kind of rock attitude, they bring back this little bitterness that was missing in recent rock. But I agree with the headbanger, (what`s his name?) to say that it`s just ridiculous to proclame the White Stripes` guitarist the 17th best guitarist of all time. Come on guys, it`s power chords. Having attitude doesn`t make a good musician out of you. My Mr.Happy does have attitude but he doesn`t play the guitar very well. mmm...maybe better than Metalass.

the white stripes are great and lets list the good: Rancid, NoFx, the Transplants, Radiohead, Smashing Pumkins, STP, Rob Zombie, Marylin Manson, OTEP, Anti-flag, SpineShank, Hatebread, US Bombs, and Pantera

The Bad: GOOD CHARLOTTE, New found glory, Avril Lavinge, REM, Matchbox 20, Third Eye Blind, New Metallica, and ICP

I wouldn`t consider Blink 182 and Sum 41 as Punk, their songs are good for <snip>. They are writting music that are to be listened by the general population, hence they can massively distribute these music and make $$. It is these kinds of marketing tactics that cause consumers to lower their taste on music. Music stores like HMV dont carry artists such as Ani DiFranco or Soulive, and it was hard for me to find Sigur Ros cds a couple of years ago. Big chain music stores have obviously limited our choice of music, and kids are therefore not exposed to these other alternative music and are directed to listening these mass produce pop music.
I agree with Simon on Radiohead”s best album is The Bends, and Kid A is one awesome album.

I have been reading hours fo reviews from people like you whining about "sellouts" like Blink-182, Sum-41, Good Charolette and the like. I cant take it anymore. I just dont understand why you people are so critical. If it werent for popular punk bands, there wouldn`t be punk. Punk would have died and gone the way of disco had it not been for Greenday. Theyre popular. Are they sellouts to? What about the Sex Pistols huh? Even Blink-182 was excepted until Enema of the state. Its backstabbing them. Most people who are into punk started with pop-punk. My first CD was Sum-41, All Killer No Filler. Then Simple plan. Now I have gotten into the underground stuff. Rufio, NOFX, Thrice, The Swinging Udders, and STUN. You say that both punk and rock are dying. Well, if it isnt for bands like these, then that is exactly what will happen. Well ill tell you that i am proud of these bands. They`re all that keeps punk moving on. We should be grateful for them.

Listen, i hate the word "punk", like there is a definition for punk!? I thought punk meant thinking for yourself and doing your own thing, it doesnt mean you have to spit on people and be a dick. I agree thast bands like good charlotte and all of those suck, but cmon, labeling things as punk is stupid. And another thing, since when did punk mean having a mohawk and saftey pins anyway? Be original and do whatever comes natural people. We all have to be conformist anyway at sometime in our life,if not we would just have boring lives. The point of punk is to not be just another label, so who are we to judge whats punk or not? wouldnt that make us like all of the other that "punks" go against?

lol... i agree too... sum 41 and nfg are i guess what you would call "mall punk." it bugs me big time... now blink on the other hand, is what i believe to be punk... they`ve been around longer and they`ve had this style and sound long before the mall punk came on the scene. and why are you griping? punk is so much more than a type of music you listen to. Punk is a way of life, not a trend... its a whole perception on the world, its a feeling, is an emotion, its a way of life... umm.. since people are like name some of their favorite bands or whatever umm here are a few (but not all) of mine(in no particular order):

Punk only exists in attitude nowadays. The music has long gone.
