Nirvana is the reason this alternative punk/emo/tuneless indie crap is popular. If they hadn't come around we'd still be listening to Skid Row. Personally i'd prefer it that way
You're bunching way too much stuff together
Alternative, such as Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Radiohead is good.
Indie, such as the Pixies, is good.
Emo, bands like TBS and Saosin, is not good. Stay focused
There would have been no bands like Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins, and so forth without Nirvana. Or moreso, they wouldn't have been as popular as they were. If you wanna look at the real floodgates opening for acceptance to that crap, it's Dookie, as much as I like that album, they're the reason pop punk became popular and lead into emo and screamo and !*****! !***! like that.
