Well, I'm bored off my ass and really just fell like doing a list, mainly because over the last 5 months, I have discovered so much amazing music and albums, I feel I have to do another fave albums list. The last one I posted has completely changed and it just goes to show you how great discovering new music is. My last list was crap now that I look back on it anyway........
Anyhoo, a while back I started a thread about my favorite albums and it went like this
1. Never mind-Nirvana
2. Revolver- The Beatles
3. Rubber Soul- The Beatles
4. Led Zeppelin II
5. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band- The Beatles
6. Axis: Bold as Love- Jimi Hendrix
7. Deloused in the Comatorium- The Mars Volta
8. Live at Leeds- The Who
9. In Utero- Nirvana
10. The Bends- Radiohead
But I feel I have to redo it as I have discovered some truely amazing albums lately.
My NEW list
1. Revolver- The Beatles- I know it's a very unoriginal choice, but this album has it all, no weak songs, just a truely amazing album from start to finish, and the greatest one ever recorded.
2. Nevermind- Nirvana- Yeah just a flip flop of the first 2, but as many of you believe that it was overrated, I still believe it to be rock's saving grace in the 90s, an amazing album.
3. The Bends- Radiohead- From Planet Telax to Street Spirit, unbelievable. Just listen to it if you haven't, you have no clue what you're missing.
4. Mellon Collie and the Infinte Sadness- The Smashing Pumpkins- Yeah it has some filler, so what? It's shining moments aren't in it's singles, but the lesser known tracks. Just listen to Jellybelly, Muzzle, Porcelina of the Vast Oceans, and Bodies and I think you'll agree that this album is fantastic.
5. The Fragile- Nine Inch Nails- Ok, I hate to admit this, but without me and Seal Nut bitching back and forth I never would've discovered this album, All I knew from NIn before this was closer, and I truely couldn't stand that song, but after listening to The Fragile, I realized that Trent Reznor is a genious. I really can't understand how someone could create something this amazing, something that needs to be heard to believe.
6. Rubber Soul- The Beatles- Yeah, I'm a beatles fanatic. The album that started there transition to serious rock artists and also coincided with there drug use, it's so good it hurts. Just listen to Girl, I'm Looking Through you, or Norwegian Wood and I thnk you'll be convinced.
7. Physical Grafitti- Led Zeppelin- A mammoth. Everyone knows Kashmir, but listen to The Rover, Trampled Under Foot, or the Wanton Song.
8. Live at Leeds- The Who- As good as live Rock gets
9. Californiacation- RHCP- We all know the Otherside and the title track, but Around the World, Parallel Universe and Get on top need to be heard to truely appreciate this album and John Frusciate's genious.
10. Led Zepp II- Led Zeppelin- Thank You is gourgeous, Ramble on just gets to you and Moby Dick shows just how amazing John Bonham was.
11. Ten- Pearl Jam- OK, I was wrong, I can admit it. All I really heard from this CD were the singles when I bitched about it, and while I love Alive and Black, Once, Why Go and Porch are what makes this album truely shine for me. I still don't think it's as good or as important as Nevermind, but brilliant nonethless
12. Aenima- Tool- Wow. Just really started listening to this band, after only really hearing the singles again (Goddamn I gotta stop listening to the !***!ty radio), I never really realized the brilliance of Tool. Their technical expertise is amazing yes, but you need more than that for a great album and tool has it. Eulogy, Forty six and 2 and Hooker With a Penis highlight this one.
13. Deloused in the comatorium- The Mars Volta- I know I overuse this phrase, you have to hear this to believe it. Unbeilivable guitar work and Vocals.
14. Quadrophenia- The Who- Just really started listening to this one, and I can't stop. In all honesty, a better concept album than Tommy. I'm one, oh I'M ONE.
15. DSOTM - Pink Floyd- Best flow in any album ever. The rest I'm sure you know.
16. OK Computer- Radiohead- This one !****!s with you. Just listen. Electioneering, Subteraenean Homesick Alien, Let Down, awwwwwwwww yeah
17. Siamese Dream- The Smashing Pumpkins- This one could be here for Hummer alone, but seeing as the rest is brilliant and showed us just what a genious Billy Corgan is, I'd say listen to Quiet, Geek USA and Cherub Rock too.
18. Axis: Bold as Love- Hendrix- The most beautiful album ever. Period. End of discussion. You gotta hear Spanish Castle magic (or if you play guitar hero u prolly aleready have) and Wait Until Tommorrow.
19. Art of Life- X Japan- Here's where I think I'll lose you. Never touched the US, but Japan's biggest band ever, a 1 song 29 min. album that is at times beautiful and rocks out at others. Once again, really needs to be heard to be believed, it's an experience.
20. NtBHTSP- The sex Pistols- Just awesome, knock you on your ass, no bullshit rock
21. In Utero- Nirvana- Not quite unlistenable (maybe in parts) but contains the best Nirvana song, Pennyroyal Tea. Dumb and Frances Farmer are also quite kick ass.
22. S.C.I.E.N.C.E.- Incubus- yup we all know there popular stuff but this is there best. Redefine and Vitamin are absolutely kick ass, and I love Mike Eizinger's guitar style.
23. Daydream Nation- Sonic Youth- I could put it on here for Teenage Riot alone, but the rest of it is also, how you say, very, very good.
24. Full Collapse- Thursday- Yup emo. No I don't cut my wrists, but there is some true emotion to be found on this album, nevermind their awful new album.
25. Sing the Sorrow- AFI- Some awesome, depressing at times, but great songs. Silver and cold is in my opinion one of the best songs about suicicde ever and This Celluloid Dream rocks hard. It's just too bad Decemberunderground was such a disappointment
26. Ziggy Stardust- Bowie- Great, sometimes nonsense lyrics, but always keeps you enthralled as a listener.
27. The White Album- Beatles- 2 Cds of mostly brilliance, some rubbish (Ob li di? Paul I love you but come on). Sexy Sadie, Blackbird and Happiness is a warm gun highlight it.
28. Led Zepp 3- Led Zepp- I'm just gonna say it. The most underrated rock ablum. ever. That's the way and Since I've been loving you have tender brilliance, while Out on the tiles and Immigrant song rock.
29. Abbey Road- Had to choose it over Sgt. Peppers, cause qutie frankly, it's better. Probably the Happiest Album I've ever heard. and the medley is just awesome.
30. Superunknown- Soundgarden- Let me drown kicks my ass everytime I hear it, and the Day I tried to live is my fave Soundgarden song, really showing off Cornells Vocals and lyricism.
Well I just felt like posting this, do whatever you want, post your own give some opinions, or don't talk to me at all, I don't care. Just had to get this off my chest. I'll probably add some in the coming days. Thank you and goodnight
