Yo post ur thoughts im curious to know if im the only one who thinks we need to bring classic rock back.

Everyone knows new rock is poor. But when you say classic...how classic are we talking about? If you want the stuff of the 1960s then you're gonna be disapointed. Times have changed and so has culture. The drug filled, political, anti-war youth no longer exists. The same might be said about 70s rock. Sure we all want to see another Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple or AC/DC. But how many ppl believe thats gonna happen again?

Just as time goes by, so are popular things from different eras. The most obvious example is classical music. From the Medieval music with no actual notes, then Renaissance, to Baroque's exploration into polyphony, to the Classical era, and then the expressive, emotional Romantic era, and the Impressionistic trying to capture images with music, and then to Neoclassical/Contemporary that went further into atonality and such. We probably will never see the rise of classic rock again, but it may be the basis for a new era of rock sometime in the future. It will not be the same, but those who will attempt to create a new genre while using the same "rules" and "objectives" as classic rock from the past may come close to capturing the value of it while still creating something new.

True. If classic rock remains popular for decades to come then it's bound to keep influencing musicians

I do not think that rock and roll is dying. While it is not the popular genre of our generation, it is still very evident in todays music scene. I am not talking about emo as well.

There are plenty of bands today that play great rock music. Just to name a few, check out the following.

Dream Theater
Wolfmother
Dredg
Porcupine Tree
Coheed and Cambria
Kayo Dot
Maudlin of the Well
Opeth
The Racontours
Dave Matthews
Guster
Velvet Revolver
King Crimson (old and great, but they are still going strong)

There are more, but I believe that these bands are living proof that rock is not dead. I also beleive that bands like Opeth and Dream Theater bring a level of diversity and technicality to the rock and metal playing field.

Nah rock n rolls been pretty much dead since the mid 90s

seriosly its all goin to this !*****! emo !***!, acdc, ozzy osbourne, twisted sister, iron maiden are the best

Look hard and you can find good rock. Trust me, there of plenty of people more talented than ourselves who have that same ideas, and make great music. The bands are harder to find because that style is no longer pop, and are therefore the bands aren't picked up by big labels.
