I`d just like to add Van Morrison to the list along with The Band and Warren Zevon. Those guys were/are great artists, and they really touch me and invigorate me with their music.

Some new stuff is actually pretty good. Dont diss it just because it isnt old and classic. Being 14, i actually listen to older stuff alot, as well as new stuff.

and yes, some new stuff is good. but most suck; like nickelback and fuel. even some old stuff can suck a lot; like aerosmith.

I think that only people who have heard a large variety of music should have the most reasonable opinion on this topic. I think that modern punk (or some people like this so called "emo" which is mind numbing, unless you are referring to Rites of Spring), Linkin Park in particuluar, is extremely bland. Im 19, so dont give me that "you are an old homosexual asshole" crap.

hm. but what should happen when that person HAS heard a large variety of music, but decides it all sucks? exactly. it doesn`t matter if he/she has heard a large variety of music, only if they like it or not. just because they don`t know bands that no one else has heard of, doesn`t mean that band`s any good. "yeah, man, all that mainstream sucks! i`m so cool, i listen to Some Crappy Band That I Know You Haven`t Heard OF Before". come on, now, try a different approach.

My point is how do you know that they arent any good? how do you know that they dont suck. If I`ve watched 100 movies and youve watched 10, and you say "fast and the furious is the best" and i say "have you seen apocalypse now? how do you know it isnt the best?"

From the bands you know you might think Linkin Park or whatever is the best. Cool. Good for you. Ive heard their music and attended one of their concerts.

I think that someone who knows more about music and more bands, has the greater chance to make a more VALID judgement.

Im not saying your opinion is wrong, it is just not very openminded, unless you`ve systematically listened to large varietys of music and deteremined that it is the best.

And you are being hypocritical by assuming that bands that people havent heard of are stupid. Mindset of "Well if it isnt on the Radio it must suck."

Coldplay, largely popular, one of the best bands in modern history, should also be added to my list.

i know it`s not really my debate....but....i just thought since you guys are giving me a head ache i`d add in my opinion. o.k i`m gonna have to side with the "cat dude". you oviosly havn`t heard every new band...i mean each city has it`s own genre of music...somes more rough, somes soft, somes punk, somes metal, somes awsome, and some "sucks". every time you say something to back up your point you just make your self look less and less open minded. hopefully this ends this argument!
